The Bay City Yacht Club invites you to attend a Great Lakes Weather Seminar

Saturday, March 3rd, BCYC will be hosting an all day Weather Seminar by Mark Thornton.

Mark has an extensive weather background and the seminar will be geared toward Great Lakes weather with some specific local examples. He will be providing you the tools necessary to interpret the weather combining online resources, data from your instruments, real time observations and much more! This seminar is not just geared for sailors! Anyone who enjoys activities on or near the water will benefit from this seminar. For those of you who frequent Sailing Anarchy, you may have read his comprehensive article on the tragic storm that hit the Chicago to Mac fleet this year. Here is the article link:

The Weather Seminar will run from 8:30am-4:30pm with a short morning break, a lunch break and a short afternoon break. Register before Jan. 31st to receive the early discount rate of $30, after Jan. 31st the cost is $35. Price includes seminar materials, snacks at both breaks, lunch of either a sandwich or pizza (indicate choice on registration form) and beverages (coffee/water/soda).

To offer a comfortable atmosphere seating will be limited with tables arranged in a classroom style, seats on one side only .

8pm Friday, March 2nd, Mark will host a one hour presentation on the Chicago/Mac storm.

The clubhouse is open for dinner on Friday so come on out, grab a bite to eat and listen to a very interesting, detailed overview of the storm. There will be no charge for the Friday night presentation compliments of the BCYC Sailing Committee.
