Announcing the 2010 Huron Doublehanded Challenge Saturday, June 26, 2010 The Doublehanded Sailing Association is pleased to announce the 26th running of the Huron Doublehanded Challenge on June 26, 2010. This event is a great opportunity to develop and showcase your short-handed sailing skills. The challenge, satisfaction, and friendships of completing this event cannot be described … it must be experienced. Three courses are available:
1. The traditional course starts in Port Huron, rounds a Goderich mark, and finishes in Rogers City.
2. The shoreline course will start in Port Huron, pass east of the lower Lake Huron weather buoy, and sail up the Michigan coast to Rogers City.
3. The Saginaw Bay course starts west of the breakwater off Caseville, passes east of the lower Lake Huron weather buoy, and finishes in Rogers City.
The Port Huron Yacht Club and Huron Yacht Club will host the respective starting fleets, with Rogers City hosting the finishing yachts. The entry fee for US Sailing members is $170 for DSA and GLSS members, and $200 for all others. Non-US Sailing members must add $15. Your Huron Doublehanded Challenge entry fee covers the following:
· A pre-race dinner at the Port Huron Yacht Club for the skipper and crew.
· A pre-race breakfast in Caseville for skipper and crew.
· Awards banquet dinner at the Rogers City Marina Pavilion for the skipper and crew.
· Breakfast at the Rogers City Marina Pavilion for skipper and crew.
· Flag awards for qualifying class finishers.
